BAT: variable resonator for ceiling
Installation of the ceiling variable resonator: BAT
Positioning (look at drawings within the document)
Position A): one BAT at the center of the imaginary segment connecting the two speakers.
Position B): one BAT above the listening point, shifted 40-50 cm. towards the speakers from the position of the listener’s head.
Positions C): ceiling area behind the speakers; one BAT for each corner, spaced 40-80 cm. from the wall behind the speakers and about 30-60 cm. from the side walls.
Positions D): ceiling area behind the listening point; one BAT for each corner, spaced 40-80 cm. from the wall behind the listener and about 30-60 cm. from the side walls.
Positions E): ceiling area on the sides of listening point; one BAT on both sides, preferably at half length of the side wall and spaced from it by 40-50 cm., alternatively aligned with the listening point.
Fixing to the ceiling
With two plugs and screws for plastered wall ceilings. With two wood screws for slatted or wood-beaded ceilings.

Once installed on the ceiling, the resonator can be rotated on its vertical axis and its transparent internal membrane can be tilted with respect to the horizontal position.
The starting position of the “central” devices (above the listening point and between the two speakers, points A and B), is with the transparent membrane horizontal (therefore parallel to the ceiling), with its rough surface facing the floor and its axis of rotation parallel to the wall behind the speakers.
Starting from the horizontal position, taking as a reference on the membrane the semicircle highlighted by the arrow in the following drawings, tilting it so that that semicircle comes closer to the ceiling, a proportional shift of the central sound image towards the listener is obtained.
Conversely, always starting from the horizontal position, by tilting the membrane so that the semicircle moves away from the ceiling, a proportional shift of the central sound image towards the wall behind the speakers is obtained. For the devices fixed near the corners of the ceiling (points C and D), by rotating them on their vertical axis, a proportional widening of the sound stage can be obtained, when the surfaces of the membranes (once tilted with respect to the horizontal starting position) are oriented towards the side walls.
This is also overall valid for the devices positioned to the sides of the listening point
(E points).
The tilt of the transparent membrane also produces variations on tonal balance and of the speed response to the transients.
Its progressive tilting from the starting position parallel to the ceiling, offers a response with ever greater energy in the medium-high range.
The best effects on the speed and release of transients are obtained with the membrane parallel to the ceiling.
By matching these two adjustments, together with the appropriate rotation of the device on its vertical axis when placed near the corners and/or along the side walls, the best overall sound results are obtained.
