Operational premises and description of the recording characteristics.

Location: Acustica Applicata listening room in Gallicano (Lucca-Italy)
“Room inside a room” 750 x 530 x 275 cm. perfectly acoustically isolated from external noise, allows listening or recording sessions at any time of the day or night.
The room is also treated internally with products designed and built by Acustica Applicata (DAAD, Volcano, Polifemo, Halifax) for a well-balanced acoustic performance,
aimed at maintaining vivid, dynamic sounds.

The recording sessions performed by Italo Adami, began in the late afternoon
and ended late at night on December 18th, 2023.

Four pieces composed by maestro Riccardo Bianco were recorded. Each piece was repeated and recorded three times. Each performance was performed in its entirety, without interruptions,
from start to finish, as like a Live performance.

“E Budapest è lontana”

For the video, the musicians subsequently chose the best performance of “E Budapest è lontana” and “Tango di mare salato”.
Recorded during the same sessions, Acustica Applicata added the
seductive instrumental piece “Sic et Simpliciter” to these two tracks.

The 1:1 master copy of the recording is available on RTM SM900 ¼” tape at 15 IPS/38 cm/sec., on a 10,5″/27 cm. metal reel or on a 7″/18 cm plastic reel.

The “Direct-to-Tape” recording, purely analog, was performed using two CharterOak tube microphones (ECC 83) in hyper cardioid configuration, Goldmike tube microphone preamplifier directly connected to the Sony APR5000 master recorder,
RTM Studio Master 900 tape, DA Aluminium Cables.

No mixer or other intermediate electronics were used, the level control was carried out acoustically through the appropriate use of DAAD and Studio DAAD and through
an appropriate distancing of the instruments from the microphones.
The guitar and bass levels were also carried out through the controls of the respective amplifiers.

The purpose of this modality of stereo recording was to offer the best level of transparency, sound purity and natural dynamics; the 1:1 master copy of the recording available on tape,
is obviously free from compression or any other kind of modification from the master tape.

The high level of the musicians, the recording technique adopted, together with “emotionally” Live performances, without cuts and therefore “without a net”, give life to a pathos, to an emotional and exciting musical climate, musically dense, but acoustically transparent, whose reproduction on high-level audio systems generates listening emotions very close to those of real live listening.
